Enhancing Access to Inclusive Finance for Local Green Enterprises

Finance gaps for local green entrepreneurs need to be addressed. LGEs have the agility to accelerate access to new markets and play a catalytic role in the diffusion and uptake of green innovations, owing to their role as key adopters and testers for radical green innovations in the production and manufacturing of environmental goods, services and technologies – which many established firms view as high-risk and therefore avoid. Green Economy Boosts Jobs Market

  This is an article by Rusana Philander in a local newspaper (December 2012). *** Finding jobs for people who understand sustainability. Elize Hattingh is a graduate from the BPhil programme and is doing her Mphil thesis on career paths for people with qualifications in the sustainability field (supervised by Mark Swilling). She is conducting research on where graduates from the Master’s Programme in Sustainable Development have landed up. She has set up a business called Green Talent. Green Talent visited the Sustainability Institute during June this year to get to know the students of the BPhil programme a little better. Sustainability Career Talk at UCT: Inspiring Students at the Chemical Engineering Faculty in Cape Town

  Elize Hattingh and Amelie Guyot from Green Talent   were invited to host a Sustainability Career Talk at the UCT Chemical Engineering faculty on 5 October 2012 in Cape Town. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with young minds on zero harm principles and how it applies to Chemical Engineer.

The first Sustainability Professionals Network established in South Africa 2012

  The 1st ever Sustainability Professionals Forum hosted at the Vineyard Hotel on 7 July 2012. This was an opportunity for like-minded people to engage on the Sustainable Development Agenda and what is means in a South African context.  We welcomes all types of sustainability professionals including: students, young entrepreneurs, established business owners, representatives from corporate and government officials.
