Sustainability Career Talk at UCT: Inspiring Students at the Chemical Engineering Faculty in Cape Town

 


Elize Hattingh and Amelie Guyot from Green Talent  were invited to host a Sustainability Career Talk at the UCT Chemical Engineering faculty on 5 October 2012 in Cape Town.

It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with young minds on zero harm principles and how it applies to Chemical Engineer.

Women in the Green Economy

  Workshop Overview This was an incredible opportunity to participate in 2 day workshop offered by Unido offering Capacity Building for Public Sector in Female Empowerment and Inclusion in the Green Economy. Course Content The two day train the trainer program also covered a comprehensive policy context of the green economy in South Africa and Gender bias and gaps. One of the key insights was how to use a gender lens to support Women Economic Empowerment in the Green Economy.  Application of Gender Mainstreaming Tools and Methodologies to empower women in the Green Economy.  The training was for local and municipal officers who works in policy, project development , M&E and procurement. Other interesting areas covered included: Gendered policy, Programmes and Implementation Plans Gendered Green Economy Value Chain Analysis Creating Action Plans that actively include Female-owned Entrepreneurs

Just energy transition funding for SMMEs and Cooperatives I spend the morning with the Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG)`s Small Business Development Committee to unpack the impact of climate change on small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) in South Africa.
